Delhi Community Health Center strives to provide the best care possible to our patients while protecting our staff and community from transmission of infectious diseases. If you develop symptoms commonly seen with colds and flu such as cough and low grade fever, but you are otherwise doing well, it is best to stay home and treat your symptoms yourself. Stay at least 6 feet from others for at least 2 weeks. If you live with someone over 50 years old, stay in separate rooms to prevent virus transmission. If you are ill and become short of breath, call your healthcare provider at 318-878-6650 BEFORE coming to the clinic. In the meantime, cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze and throw the tissue away immediately.  Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use a 60% or higher alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Clean high touch surfaces such as doorknobs, tabletops, phones or tablets regularly with a disinfectant. Avoid touching your face; avoid close contact with people and crowds. Remember: Call Delhi Community Health Center prior to coming in to get directions on where to go. Please wear a mask to the clinic or emergency department if you have one available.

Life in Louisiana has changed drastically over the past few weeks as COVID-19, more commonly called coronavirus, entered our state. Experts are continuing to learn more about this highly contagious virus- how it spreads, how it can be treated, and eventually how to create a vaccine to protect against it.

It's also an enormously important reason for everyone to be washing their hands properly, thoroughly and frequently. You could be exposed to the virus without even knowing it- and therby, unknowingly spreading it as well.
